Lead Data Scientist — Microfinance

An international microfinance group that offers tailor-made financial services to facilitate the activity of financially underserved entrepreneurs and traders.

From the Holding, you will evolve within the data team. Under the responsibility of the Head of Data and in collaboration with all businesses, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the data function, by integrating a multidisciplinary team (Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist), in particular:

• Through the development and maintenance of Data Science products,
• By leading the team of Data Scientists,
• By propagating a Data Science culture within the group.

More specifically, you will need to:

Manage and participate in Data Science projects at the service of business:

• Building and defending a Data Science strategy and roadmap in service of the company's growth objectives and proposing changes,
• Develop and deploy predictive models using advanced analytical techniques (Random forest, neural networks, etc.),
• Develop ML Ops principles within the team in order to secure and improve the integration and deployment of new models,
• Integrate and exploit new data sources to enrich decision support tools (credit score, churn, etc.),
• Design decision support tools and report the results by developing ergonomic interfaces and powerful visualizations.

Leading the Data Science team:

• Animate and functionally coordinate Data Scientists on various projects, by structuring their work, by monitoring their progress, in accordance with the project roadmap,
• Manage the company's key Data Science projects and in connection with the business, to meet business ambitions and the data roadmap,
• Define best practices and working methods; ensure their correct application and report any difficulties encountered with the team.

Disseminate a Data Science culture within the group:

• Develop the Data Science activity in all subsidiaries, by creating processes within the team, data models and business-oriented reports, in order to monitor activity and projects in an optimal way,
• Cultivate the research and development approach on the modeling & scoring axis by monitoring the state of the art and by having a proactive approach,
• Evangelize the various stakeholders of the group on the effective use of data and the creation of value through predictive models.

You have an MS or PhD in quantitative fields such as statistics, economics, mathematics and computer science.

You have a background of at least 5 years in data analysis and must have experience in project management. You have experience in credit scoring or modeling in the financial sector, serving retail or SME customers. You are proficient in R and/or Python. Experience with algorithm development on AWS/Google Cloud Platform would be a plus. Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB) is required.
